We decided to build a home for our family. We had lived on the property for about 6 years in a mobile home and decided it was time to move into something bigger. We had chosen the property years before from my husband's father's land. He had sold us acreage to build on, although he tried to talk us out of building here. He had used the property where our house now stands as a vegetable garden plot. All around it, there was a thicket of pine trees, bushes, and vines growing up in the trees. He thought we would be very dis-satisfied with this choice. But, in the almost 27 years we have lived in our home, we've never been sorry we built on this land.
When we start thinking about building a home, we first look for suitable property. We know that we want a piece of land that will support a home; we don't want a site that is in the swamp, the mud, or sinking sand. We wanted to make sure, when the foundation for that new home was poured, that the ground would support it. We didn't want the foundation to start sinking and walls to start cracking.
Just like the foundation of your home, your spiritual temple must be built on a firm foundation. Although it's very important that your home be built on secure ground, it's more important that your spiritual temple be built on the one firm foundation that will hold forever - Jesus Christ. When the trials and trouble begin to flood your habitation, know that it will stand with the Word of God. The temple cannot be shaken, when placed on that sure ROCK!
