A BandAid or Surgery?

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

This world is in need of a fix!! Every time I turn on the television or the radio, you hear more about terrorism, kidnappings, killings, and robberies. Every week, one or more company officials are found guilty of robbing from their company. Dishonesty seems to be a 'way of life' now. Nobody seems to worry what the consequences will be. They seem to think that it's there for the taking - nobody will notice - so, "I'll just do a little behind-the-scenes bookkeeping, and all will be well." Some seem to think a bandaid is the answer. Make a law that requires the CEO's or head of companies to sign a paper, making them responsible for what goes on in that company. Well, I would think they ARE responsible, regardless whether their name is written in ink or not. After all, they are there to run an honest and above board company. Abortion is rampant, and society thinks this is fine. After all, it's 'legal'. But, the scars on those young girls or older women won't be eased by a 'bandaid'. Their life has been upset by an unwanted pregnancy, and then interrupted by an abortion, because they've been told it's okay. They'll heal and they'll 'get over it'. But, listen to the women who have gone through those abortions, to the nurses who have had to witness those abortions, especially the 'partial abortion' ones, and see how they feel. There have been more and more children abducted and killed lately. Other children have taken it on themselves to murder others, without a thought to the punishment that this act brings. Revenge is sometimes the reason, and they feel it is their right to get back at the one who made them suffer, for whatever cause - little or big. Terrorism has slipped across our borders, taken up residence in our once SAFE AMERICA, and making us all rethink our safety here in our own land. A child getting on to a plane with a small toy rubber gun isn't even safe anymore. The 'rubber gun' (GI JOE) is confiscated because it is a threat to someone. THIS is another one of those 'bandaid' measures! When will our society wake up and realize this is not the real problem here in America? What our society needs is SURGERY performed! It has to go straight to the 'heart' of the matter. We don't have superficial wounds that will heal with a little ointment and a bandaid. We have to dig out all the rubbish that has been accumulating from day one, disinfect the wounds, and sew them up. Then, we have to treat them with utmost care, that they won't become infected again. The only way this will work, is for us to get back to GOD, FEED on His Word daily, make Him the center of our life, and let Him lead, guide, and direct our paths. Maybe then the once great nation of America will begin to 'heal' from those wounds we now have that seem to be multiplying, rather than getting well. Too long we have 'watched', rather than treated, the 'wounds' and our nation is paying the consequences from turning away from a merciful God!
